Our decisions are born in dialogue between equals. We conduct projects as a shared effort where each participant brings something of their own: deep domain knowledge, engineering experience, or the right attitude. We communicate kindly and directly, assuming good intentions even in disagreement. This means being thoughtful in our actions, avoiding harm, and repairing relationships when needed. This is the kind of table we choose to stay at.
Start with people
Every endeavor has its own vocabulary, its own rhythm, and its own mechanics. We begin by immersing ourselves in that endeavor. We study how processes work, how decisions are made, and what matters to people. At Zhorben, we define «users» broadly. Users are our clients, their teams, and everyone affected by the technology we build. The first lines of code appear when we understand who we're writing them for.
Do the simple thing that works
We approach problems empirically and care about the size of our impact and not the sophistication of our methods. This doesn’t mean we throw together haphazard solutions. On the contrary, we strive to identify the simplest solution and iterate from there. This requires the ability to restrain oneself and, upon feeling an urge to overcomplicate the solution, not to rush to satisfy it.

We say what we ourselves believe, based on our current understanding. This understanding evolves over time. New details emerge, connections become clear, and the overall picture changes. Scope can be revisited, approaches modified, and processes rebuilt. Exceeding the expectations of each other, our clients, and everyone affected by our decisions — that is what meeting expectations truly means. We learn this every day, and sometimes every hour.
